Why I Started The Kept Home A Personal Cleaning Service in Mirfield

A clean home can change the feel of a whole week.

I do not mean a perfect show home where nobody lives, nobody drops muddy shoes by the door, and no dog ever shakes after a walk. I mean a home that feels cared for. Floors that feel fresh under your feet. A kitchen that is pleasant to walk into in the morning. A bathroom that feels properly clean. The small things that make everyday life feel a little lighter.

I am Peri, founder of The Kept Home, and I live in Mirfield with my family and our dog, Cooper. Like many people, I know what it feels like to juggle work, family, children, pets, cooking, school runs, errands, and all the other jobs that seem to fill every spare minute.

Cleaning often ends up squeezed into the edges of the week. It is done late at night, rushed on a Sunday, or put off until it starts to feel overwhelming. I started The Kept Home because I wanted to offer something genuinely helpful to local households: a warm, reliable, personal cleaning service that gives people a bit of time and breathing space back.

I know how hard it is to keep on top of everything

Before starting The Kept Home, I had my own career and the usual busy home life that comes with having a family. I understand the mental list that never seems to end.

There is the washing to fold, the meals to plan, the school bags to sort, the work emails to answer, the appointments to remember, and then the cleaning on top.

Even when you like a tidy home, finding the time and energy to keep it clean can be difficult. A lot of people feel guilty about that, but I really do not think they should.

Homes are lived in. Families are busy. Life does not pause so you can scrub the bathroom or give the kitchen the attention it needs.

That is one of the main reasons I wanted to create The Kept Home. I wanted to offer a Cleaning Service Mirfield residents could trust, but in a way that feels personal, friendly, and reassuring.

My aim is not just to clean houses. It is to help people enjoy their homes more.

That might mean a regular weekly clean, a fortnightly visit to keep things ticking over, or a one-off clean when life has been especially busy. It might mean focusing on the kitchen and bathrooms one week, paying extra attention to dusting and floors the next, or helping someone reset their home after a hectic few weeks.

Every home is different, and every household has different priorities.

The Kept Home is personal by choice

The Kept Home is intentionally independent. I did not want to build a big, impersonal cleaning agency where customers never quite know who will turn up at the door.

For me, trust matters. When someone lets you into their home, they are trusting you with a very personal space. That should never feel rushed, anonymous, or careless.

One of the biggest benefits of choosing The Kept Home is that you have the same friendly cleaner. That means I get to know your home properly. I learn what matters to you, which rooms need the most attention, how you like things done, and the little details that make a difference.

Some people love their kitchen surfaces completely clear. Some want extra care around ornaments, bookshelves, or children’s rooms. Some prefer a regular focus on pet hair, especially if there is a dog in the house. As a dog owner myself, Cooper has made sure I know all about muddy paw prints and fur finding its way into corners.

Having the same person visit each time also makes the service feel easier. You do not have to explain everything again and again. You do not have to wonder whether a new person will understand what you need. Over time, the clean becomes more tailored because I know the home and the household better.

That personal relationship is a big part of what I wanted The Kept Home to stand for.

Simple, careful cleaning can make the busiest rooms feel fresh again.

I am also fully insured and DBS checked, because professionalism matters as much as friendliness. I want customers to feel confident that their home is in safe hands.

That matters whether I am helping with:

  • Regular domestic cleaning

  • Weekly or fortnightly home cleans

  • One-off refresh cleans

  • Kitchen and bathroom cleaning

  • Dusting, hoovering, mopping, and general upkeep

  • Extra attention to areas that feel hard to keep on top of

Some homes need a little help often. Others need a deeper reset now and then. The point is to make the service fit real life, rather than expecting every home to follow the same checklist.

I cover local homes in and around Mirfield, and I regularly hear from people searching across Mirfield, Hopton, Liversedge, Huddersfield for a cleaner who feels approachable and trustworthy.

Why I chose bleach-free products

The products I use matter to me.

At The Kept Home, I use carefully selected bleach-free products, including Koh cleaning products. I like this approach because it leaves homes feeling clean and fresh without that overpowering chemical smell that can linger after some traditional products.

Many people associate a strong bleach smell with cleanliness. I understand that, because it is what a lot of us grew up with. But a home can be properly clean without smelling harsh or clinical.

For me, a clean home should feel fresh when you walk in. It should smell pleasant, not overwhelming. You should not feel as though you need to open every window just to clear the air.

Bleach-free cleaning also suits the kind of homes I work in. These are family homes, pet-friendly homes, busy everyday homes. The products need to work well, but they also need to feel right for the space.

That is why I choose products carefully. I want to know they are effective for the jobs I use them for, while helping create the calm, clean feeling customers are looking for.

Koh products fit well with this because they are simple, practical, and leave a lovely fresh finish. Paired with good cloths, proper technique, and attention to detail, they help me get the results I want without relying on heavy chemical smells.

This is especially noticeable in the rooms people use most.

In kitchens, it means surfaces feel clean and ready to use, without an overpowering scent around food preparation areas. In bathrooms, it means taps, sinks, showers, and surfaces can look cared for without the room smelling harsh afterwards. In living spaces and bedrooms, it helps keep that softer, fresher feeling that makes a home more relaxing.

Bathrooms should feel properly clean without a harsh chemical smell.

I also know that customers value consistency. They want to understand what is being used in their home, especially if they have children, pets, sensitivities to strong smells, or simply prefer a gentler-feeling clean.

I am always happy to talk about the products I use and the approach I take. A cleaning service should never feel mysterious. It should feel open, honest, and dependable.

Having a cleaner is really about buying back time

There is a common idea that having a cleaner is a luxury. For some people, it can feel like something they should not need, or something they should only consider if they are unable to manage.

I see it differently.

Using a cleaner is often about buying back time. Time is one of the few things we cannot make more of, and most of us already have more demands on it than we can comfortably manage.

If a regular clean gives someone a few hours back each week or each fortnight, that time can be used for the things that matter more to them.

That might be:

  • Spending time with children or grandchildren

  • Taking Cooper, or their own dog, for a proper walk

  • Resting without looking around at everything that needs doing

  • Catching up on work without the house feeling chaotic

  • Seeing friends or family

  • Enjoying their home instead of constantly maintaining it

There is nothing wrong with getting help. We use services all the time to make life more manageable, from childcare to dog grooming to car repairs. Cleaning is no different.

For many customers, the biggest benefit is not just the clean itself. It is the feeling afterwards.

It is walking through the door and knowing the floors are done. It is having a bathroom that already feels fresh. It is not losing half of Saturday to catching up with chores. It is the mental relief of one big job being taken care of.

A beautifully kept home can make life feel easier. That belief is at the heart of why I started The Kept Home.

What a more personal cleaning service feels like

When I visit a customer’s home, I try to bring the same care I would want in my own.

That means turning up when agreed, taking pride in the work, noticing the details, and treating the home with respect. It also means listening. If a customer tells me that the kitchen is the priority this week, I listen. If they want extra attention on pet hair, skirting boards, or a bathroom that gets heavy use, I take that seriously.

No two homes need exactly the same thing. A young family’s home might need a regular practical clean that helps keep the week under control. Someone working long hours might want their home to feel calmer when they finally get time to relax. A retired customer might simply want a reliable extra pair of hands for the heavier cleaning jobs.

The service can include the everyday essentials, such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping, wiping surfaces, kitchens, and bathrooms. It can also include more focused help depending on what is needed in the home.

I like the rhythm of regular cleaning because it allows me to build a proper understanding of the space. Over time, I notice what needs doing before it becomes a bigger job. I know which areas collect dust quickly, which rooms are used most, and what helps that customer feel happy when they walk back in.

That kind of care is much harder to offer when a service is rushed or constantly changing cleaners.

A personal cleaning service helps make everyday spaces feel easier to enjoy.

For me, being local matters too. Mirfield is my home. I know the area, the pace of family life here, and the mix of busy households that make up the community. I am not trying to be everywhere. I would rather offer a thoughtful, dependable service to local people and do it well.

The Kept Home is built around that idea.

Why The Kept Home matters to me

Starting The Kept Home was a personal decision. I wanted to do work that felt useful, honest, and connected to real people’s lives.

Cleaning is practical work, but it can have an emotional impact too. A cared-for home can help someone feel more settled. It can make a busy week feel less heavy. It can take pressure off a household where everyone is already doing their best.

That is what I love about it.

I am not here to judge anyone’s home. I know how quickly life gets messy, because mine does too. I am here to help keep things manageable, fresh, and comfortable.

If you are thinking about getting a cleaner, please do not feel that you have to wait until your house is spotless before asking. That defeats the point. The right cleaner should make you feel at ease, not embarrassed.

The Kept Home is for people who want their home to feel cared for by someone they can trust. It is for people who value a consistent, friendly face. It is for those who want a beautifully kept home without losing so much of their own time to cleaning.

And for me, that is the whole reason I started.

A clean home is not about perfection. It is about making everyday life feel a little easier, calmer, and more enjoyable. That is what I hope to bring to every home I care for.
